Community Development News

What’s going on in Community Development?  The economy still has a bit of a hold on the  pace of growth the City experienced years ago, but actiWhich Wichvity still remains at a fairly healthy level.  We are seeing retail building activity mostly on the west side of town, and some of the more recent occupants include the nearly side-by-side White Castle and Which Wich quick serve restaurants near the new Becker Furniture World.  Redstone American Grill will open its doors later this year near Hemlock Lane and Main Street.  Keep apprised of new retailers coming to town in this blog!  And please feel free to call the Community Development Department for more comprehensive updates!

On a much grander physical scale, Upsher-Smith Laboratories, located on the east side of I-494 and north of Bass Lake Road, is planning an approximate 130,000 square foot expansion to their existing headquarters.  Upsher-Smith is a leading pharmaceutical company.

A good resource to get information directly e-mailed to you about the different Residential and Commercial projects that are going forward to the Planning Commission and City Council is to E-Subscribe to our Agendas and Minutes.  Our Agendas/Minutes are e-mailed out twice a month.  Click here to sign up.  There are other topics to sign-up for as well.

We welcome new staff member Jesse Corrow who will fill the shoes of Barb Bogen, a recent retiree who oversaw the implementation of the sign ordinance and property maintenance codes for over 25 years.  Jesse brings his expertise and friendly demeanor to this position, and please feel free to contact him with any questions you may have regarding signage or property maintenance.  Look for his big smile!
