The City of Maple Grove established the Maple Grove Transit System in June 1990 under the Replacement Transit Service Demonstration legislation commonly referred as “opt-out” transit. Maple Grove Transit System offers commuter express to and from Minneapolis and the University of Minnesota as well as a local dial-a-ride service.
The City contracts with transit companies to provide the transit service. Transit planning, administration, customer service, and marketing is conducted by the City’s Transit Administrator. An eight-member Transit Commission exists in order to provide user input into the operation and planning of the Maple Grove Transit System.
