Stormwater pond contaminant litigation

The City of Maple Grove has joined other metro cities in an effort to recover funds from manufacturers of coal-tar based sealants. Funds would be used to offset the costs associated with stormwater pond maintenance where polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) concentrations are high enough to require dredged materials to be placed in a landfill at an added cost to the City of Maple Grove. Additional information on coal-tar based sealants and PAHs can be found on the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency website.
