Transit safety & security tips

Safety and security is everyone's business, and Maple Grove transit riders play an important role. Therefore, it is important to be alert and informed. Following are general safety and security tips to keep in mind when utilizing Maple Grove Transit buses and facilities.

If you see something, say something

  • For non-emergencies, contact Metro Transit Police at 612-349-7200.
  • Immediately report any suspicious or prohibited activity to your bus driver or call 911 for emergencies.
  • To leave a tip for Metro Transit Police, call 612-349-7222 or use the online form from the Metro Transit website.

Dial 911 & notify the bus driver

  • If you feel threatened by a person or situation.
  • If you notice criminal activity or an unsafe situation.
  • If you observe a suspicious person, situation, or package.

Be prepared

Stay alert and be aware of your surroundings. Familiarize yourself with emergency exits for buses and stations.

Mentally prepare yourself - believe and know that you can protect yourself and react to an emergency if you need to. Have a plan for how to react to an emergency. Trust your instincts.

In the event of an emergency, remain calm and listen for instructions from the driver or emergency personnel. Keep with your emergency contact information for your doctor, hospital, and family members.
