October is designated as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic violence is a serious crime that dramatically impacts the safety and health of individuals and communities across our country. Locally, the city partners with the Domestic Violence Awareness Action’s Purple Lights Initiative, Cornerstone, a violence prevention organization, and Maria's Voice.
Beginning October 1 through 31, you will see our officers wearing purple patches on their uniform. Our Purple Patch Initiative is to raise awareness to help end domestic violence.
Purple Patches are available for purchase for $10 at the Maple Grove Police Department (front desk) during the month of October. Patches are being sold by the Maple Grove Police Association and all proceeds will go to Maria's Voice.
