Statement from Mayor Mark Steffenson - In response to the in-custody death of George Floyd and resulting civil unrest, Mayor Steffenson addresses from the perspective of the City of MaGroup_photo_1_Medium.jpgple Grove and our Police Department.

As of June 7, 2021, the City Council returned to all in person meetings.

Mark Steffenson is the current Mayor and has served since June 2001. Councilmembers are: Karen Jaeger, Phil Leith, Judy Hanson, and Kristy Barnett.

Maple Grove is a community legally established under the laws of Minnesota. It is governed by a mayor who serves a four-year term and four councilmembers who also serve four-year terms. City councilmembers serve at large. City elections coincide with the general elections held in the fall of all even numbered years.

All meetings and special sessions (with the exception of those limited by law) are open to the public.

The mayor and councilmembers are responsible for approving operating and capital improvement budgets, employing city workers, establishing city regulations and ordinances, maintaining public facilities, and planning the city's future.
