The City of Maple Grove is in the process of updating its current comprehensive plan. The plan is the city’s long-range vision for guiding growth, development, and change over a 20-year planning period. State law requires a municipality within the seven-county metropolitan area to review and, if necessary, revise its comprehensive plan every 10 years.
August 2016 to April 2018: Community engagement and plan development
April and May 2017: Community open house
April 2018: Planning Commission public hearing
May 2018: City Council directs plan be sent to public and regional partners for review
June to November 2018: Public and regional partners review. The city will continue to accept comments during this time. Comments should be submitted in a timely manner to avoid significant issues being raised at the last minute.
November 2018: Consider comments. Edit, modify, and finalize document.
December 2018: Submit comprehensive plan to Metropolitan Council

When completed, the 2040 comprehensive plan will include vision statements and goals and policies for each chapter.
- Land use, resilience, implementation, housing, and economic competitiveness
- Gravel mining area special area plan
- Parks and recreation plan
- Local surface water management plan
- Water supply and distribution plan
- Sanitary sewer plan
- Transportation plan
