Fourth Grade Fire Prevention Poster Contest

Each October, the Maple Grove Fire Rescue Department invites all 4th graders to participate in a fire safety poster contest. The contest is sponsored by the Minnesota State Fire Chief's Association. The poster theme needs to include a fire safety message.  The theme for 2018 was "Look. Listen. Learn. Be Aware, Fire Can Happen Anywhere."

A city wide Grand Prize Winner is chosen from all of the poster entries.  The grand prize winner receives a trophy, a $25.00 check from Maple Grove Fire-Rescue, a fire truck ride to school, and recognition at a City Council meeting. The Grand Prize poster is also entered into the state wide contest where they can win additional cash prizes.  The winning poster from the state wide competition will be published on the cover of a monthly issue of the Minnesota State Fire Chief's Association magazine and will be distributed to fire departments across the state.

The Grand Prize winning school receives the traveling trophy to display at their school for one year.  The trophy is engraved with the year, school name, teacher's name, and the winning student's name.  This trophy has been traveling around the City since 1976!

Trophies are also awarded at each school for first, second, and third place winners.  All students who enter the contest receive a carabiner from Maple Grove Fire-Rescue for their efforts.

The Maple Grove Fire-Rescue Department congratulates each poster contest winner and thanks all 4th graders who participated. Also, special thanks go to each teacher and principal who supports this fun and educational program!
