2020 Local Board of Appeal and Equalization

The purpose of the Local Board of Appeal and Equalization is to consider the estimated market value and/or classification of your Maple Grove property for the 2020 assessment for taxes payable in 2021.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Maple Grove City Council has transitioned to an online format for public meetings, including the Local Board of Appeal and Equalization. Appropriate City of Maple Grove staff will also be attending the online meeting.
The public is invited to begin calling at 6:45 p.m. to get in the queue for the Local Board of Appeal meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Caller’s should be prepared to be on hold until the Mayor opens the meeting to call-in participants. At that point, Assessing staff will work through callers in the order they were received.

We strongly encourage individuals to utilize online or phone methods (offered below) to submit their appeal application. If you do not have access to these resources, the council chambers of the Maple Grove Government Center will be open on Tuesday, April 14, at 7 p.m. for walk-in appeals. Those who have called or used one of the online options ahead will have their appeals heard first. Social distancing and increased sanitation are provided in the council chambers.
Please note an appeal to the Local Board of Appeal and Equalization is required prior to participating in the County Board of Appeal and Equalization. Please call the City of Maple Grove Assessing Department at 763-494-6250 with any questions.

If a resident wishes to make an appeal to the Maple Grove Local Board of Appeal and Equalization, an application is requested by in advance. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, residents are asked to submit their application for appeal either online or by phone to the City of Maple Grove Assessing Department.
Options available to submit your appeal:
- Complete an appeal application directly to the City Assessor’s office online
- Use online form to submit appeal at http://forms.maplegrovemn.gov/Forms/public-comment
- Submit appeal via email to assessing@maplegrovemn.gov
- Call the City of Maple Grove Assessing Department at 763-494-6250 and speak directly to a staff member.
Property owners will receive notification that their application has been received. All appeals will be brought to the City of Maple Grove Local Board of Appeal and Equalization meeting on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, at 7 p.m.
