Do you have a great idea for a business?  Want to test drive your idea first? 

The City of Maple Grove has partnered with Hennepin County and the Metropolitan Consortium of Community Developers (MCCD) to offer the Open to Business program to Maple Grove residents and businesses.  Open to Business provides free one-on-one business counseling to current and prospective entrepreneurs.  The consultants work with individuals and businesses to develop a strong business plan, identify challenges and opportunities, as well as link people with resources, including training programs, services, and financial capital. 

Office hours are held at the Maple Grove Government Center on the second Tuesday of the month, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Please call ahead for an appointment at  612-843-3260.

Areas of Technical Assistance

Open to Business advisors assist entrepreneurs in accounting and record keeping, business acquisition, business start-up, all aspects of business plan development, cash flow, financial and business analysis, loan packaging, networking, operations, strategic planning, and commercial real estate analysis. Ultimately, they will become a trusted business advisor.

Access to Capital

Advisors can also assist entrepreneurs to identify borrowing needs and accessing financing options.  They work with clients to help them find the financing that best meets their unique needs. MCCD also provides direct financing and loans in partnership with banks and nonprofit lenders. Funds can be used for inventory, working capital, asset and equipment purchases, real estate acquisition, and start-up costs.
