A serious and potentially fatal problem are pets left unattended in motor vehicles, especially during extreme temperatures, whether hot or cold. It is a violation of Minnesota State Statute to leave a dog or cat unattended in a vehicle in a manner that endangers the animal’s health or safety. An agent of the police or fire department may use reasonable force to enter the vehicle and remove the animal.
