Property owners in Maple Grove have until Tuesday, December 15, 2020 to complete a homestead application for the 2021 assessment. Eligible applicants must have moved into their home on or before December 1, 2020.
Submitting a homestead application may qualify the property for a reduced classification rate, a reduced taxable market value, a property tax refund, and other assessment programs.
A relative of the owner may qualify for a relative homestead classification and would need to apply for the relative homestead by Tuesday, December 15, 2020.
The details about the homestead and the relative homestead requirements and applications can be found on the assessing department website.
Once homestead is granted, it is not necessary to reapply in subsequent years. In some circumstances, the Assessor's office may request verification of the homestead.
If a property owner sells, moves, or for any reason does not qualify for the homestead classification, they should notify the county assessor within 30 days of the change in homestead status.
