Shredded Paper Not Accepted in Curbside Recycling

Shredded paper is no longer accepted in curbside recycling, at the Maple Grove drop-off site or at the Hennepin County Transfer Station in Brooklyn Park.  The Recycling Education Committee, a Minnesota organization, made the decision in 2018.  Most recycling haulers are unable to process shredded paper because it causes problems with their machines.  Also, there is no end market for shredded paper in curbside recycling.  If you have shredded paper and prefer not to throw it away, some pet stores take shredded paper.
