Playground equipment is being built by Landscape Structures in Delano, MN.  Plans are for the playground to open this fall.

March 2015

Site lighting has been installed. The building roof is up and walls are being erected. All interactive fountain pumps, filters and water lines have been installed in the building basement. The fountain is on the north side of the building in an oval plaza paved with slip resistant surfacing.

Summer 2014

Grading has started at Central Park of Maple Grove. This urban-like community park has been in the City’s comprehensive plan for over 30 years and now it is becoming a reality.  The park is located just east of the Town Green and Library and north of the Arbor Lake Shopping area.
The first phase of this park will include trails, a multi season park building, open lawn and some year round recreation opportunities. This forty acre park and pond will be developed over time, but it is anticipated park visitors will be able to enjoy some of the park features by late 2015.

Fall 2013

Planning continues on Phase One of the new Central Park of Maple Grove located in the Arbor Lakes residential district just east of Town Green and the Hennepin County Library on Lakeview Drive.  Central Park of Maple Grove is the second community park in the Maple Grove system and will serve as a destination that will attract visitors from throughout the community and beyond.  The community park will have many unique park features including: a multi-seasonal park building that will serve as the park’s hub, a spacious central lawn for hosting community events, a water splash pad, a large play area with many vibrant and cleverly designed play elements, an outdoor skating area, a wedding garden, a courts area for basketball and pickle ball, and a network of trails and walks that provide excellent walking and biking opportunities as well as easy access from the surrounding neighborhoods.

The first phase of development will create a beautiful community park with year-round recreational opportunities for visitors.  Future phases will bring new and exciting features to the park as funds become available.

Phase one planning will continue through the winter with a public bid scheduled for early spring.  If the schedule progresses as planned first phase construction would begin in April 2014.

Spring 2013

The City is moving forward with plans for a new Central Park of Maple Grove in the center of Maple Grove. A large 40+ acre parcel of land and pond has been acquired just east of the Library and Town Green on Lakeview Drive in what was formerly a gravel pit.

This new urban like, community park is another piece of the larger comprehensive plan to create a vibrant walkable city center that links residents to the many available amenities including the Community Center, Town Green, Library, Government Center and the Arbor Lakes Shopping District.

The concept plan identifies a large open lawn, event space, gardens, active play areas, water features and an ice skating loop. The park will be developed in phases, but the schedule has not been defined at this time.

Residents interested in viewing the details of the current concept plan or staying abreast of the Central Park of Maple Grove Development are encouraged to re-visit the City website. Updates will be posted.
