Effective Monday, May 18, public transit customers across the Twin Cities are required to wear a face covering while boarding and riding buses and light rail vehicles. This policy includes Maple Grove Transit EXPRESS and the MY RIDE buses. Face coverings may include cloth masks, scarves,or bandanas.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain, and state public health officials are strongly encouraging people to cover their faces while in public to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The Minnesota Department of Health does not recommend face coverings be worn by children under age 2 or by those who have trouble breathing or are unable to remove the face covering without assistance. We also recognize that some customers may not have the ability to obtain a face covering. As supplies last, the MY RIDE driver can provide a mask for those riders who do not have one.
The health and safety of our riders and staff is our utmost concern. Buses and facilities are cleaned on a regular basis. We encourage riders to follow the guidelines recommended by the Minnesota Department of Health.
Whether or not you wear a face covering, you still need to wash your hands frequently, cover your cough, and practice social distancing whenever possible. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces. Most importantly, if you are sick….do not use public transit!!!
